All Moscow Middle School students have access to a comprehensive guidance and counseling program, which includes two full-time, certified school counselors. Each counselor “follows” their assigned classes through 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

Counseling Mission
The MMS Counseling Program strives to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment, and assists students in academic, career, personal, and social development. This comprehensive counseling program is based on standards and developmental theories that enhance and promote the educational process for all students.
Guidance Curriculum |
The Guidance Curriculum consists of classroom and group activities in grades six through eight. A needs assessment is given each year to identify student needs in personal, social, and academic development areas. |
Individual Student Planning |
Individual Planning consists of activities that help students plan, monitor and manage their own learning as well as their personal and career development. Within this component, students evaluate their educational, occupational and personal goals. These activities are generally delivered either on an individual basis or by working in small groups. |
Responsive Services |
Responsive Services consist of activities designed to meet immediate needs and concerns of students, whether these needs or concerns require counseling, consultation, or referral. These services are available to all students and are often student initiated. |
Indirect Student Services |
Indirect Student Services include attending Team meetings, consultations, student achievement data analysis and referrals as needed. |
System Support |
System Support consists of management activities that establish, maintain and enhance the total guidance and counseling program. |
