Mr. Holman's Weekly Parent Update 10/23/23

Dear Parents and Guardians:

In conjunction with the end of first quarter, MMS has a scheduled conference day coming up on Friday Nov. 3.  We are scheduling group conferences with selected families, and our teachers also have some availability for individual contacts on that day.  If you haven't been scheduled for a group conference but would like to touch base with a teacher or teachers, please send them an email. Please contact me or the MMS office if you have additional questions.

End of quarter 1 coming up - This week will be a normal, five-day week.  Next week beginning Monday, October 30, is a three-day week for students.  We will be on B, C, and D schedules on those days in order to give students some extra homeroom time to finish things up for the quarter.  We will end the day Wednesday with an assembly.  There is no school for students on Thursday, Nov. 2 and Friday, Nov. 3 because of professional development and conferences.

CORE/Cub Pride this week:  This week's lessons are on Grit (6th and 7th) and Conflict Management (8th):

6th:  Grit-Course-1.pdf      7th:  Grit-Course-2.pdf      8th:  Conflict-Management-Course-3.pdf

    • 7th and 8th A and B teams practice in the Bear Den 3:30-5:00pm.
  • A reminder that 6th basketball will begin on Monday October 30th in the Bear Den would be good as well.

Halloween, Oct. 31 - Students are allowed to dress up on Halloween (Monday and Wednesday will have dress up themes that week also.)  Costumes must not contain blood/gore, weapons of any type are not allowed and masks that cover faces are also not allowed.  Thanks for your assistance with these guidelines.

Red Ribbon Week this week - MSD Prevention Coordinator Mandy Strey, along with teacher Randi Frederick, school counselor Natalie Stone and counseling Melissa Godfrey, have planned some Red Ribbon week activities to take place during lunches this coming week.  The activities have themes of prevention and we will have visits from MPD officers and University of Idaho athletes and cheerleaders.  Please go to the end of this email if you would like more detail.

PST Corner - Please help us show support for our wonderful MMS teachers and staff on Thursday, Nov 2!  Sign up to bring snacks for the teacher workday at the link here:  Staff Appreciation Thursday, November 2, 2023
