Mr. Holman's Weekly Parent Update 10/05/20

Dear Parents and Guardians:

We sure have great kids in Moscow!  I am reminded of this very frequently as I interact with our students. One of my favorite duties is to supervise outside time during our lunch period.  As I hold the door open to allow students to reenter, nearly everyone, nearly every day, says 'Thank you!'.  Just one simple example, but I sure appreciate your thoughtful and considerate children. Our Cubs have been terrific about managing the new structure that we have put into place.

Professional Development Days:  The next two Wednesdays are scheduled professional development days for our staff.  There will be no morning office hours on those days as a result.

Moscow Cub Masks:  Moscow Middle School ASB purchased customized Cub facemasks several weeks ago, and they arrived Friday.  We managed to connect with most of the B group students before they left Friday.  We will hand out the masks to A group to start this week.  If you have online-only students and might be stopping by we will have masks available in the office this week.  We will likely mail those that do not get picked up, but not before the end of this week.  The mask design is pretty nifty (thanks, Mr. Haley, for arranging the order!) which inspires a reminder. Masks should be properly laundered after each day's use, so it is good to have more than one to cycle through.

Photo Day Follow-up:  Our two pictures sessions went well last week, although I know we missed a few students.  Stay tuned for more information about a retake opportunity.  If you are online-only and prefer not to come to the school for pictures at this time, we will create an opportunity to capture a photo for the yearbook.  We want to make sure that all of our students are pictured, and our yearbook promises to be a bit different than usual this year.  The publications students are excited to apply their creative talents to this project.  Yearbooks may be purchased under the 'Pay for Student Fees tab on our school website.

MMS Athletics:  Our first scrimmages of the season took place last Friday, volleyball in the Bear Den.  It was very fun to see the kids play!  We have a triple header planned for this Friday.  See the calendar below for starting times, etc.  Please remember that attendance at these events is restricted to family members.  Masks and social distancing are required.  Thanks for supporting the structure that allows us to be able to offer these activities.
