Mr. Holman's Weekly Parent Update 09/30/19

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As indicated on last week's calendar, Monday, Sept. 30 is picture retake and sports photo day.  All students who weren't around for the August 23 photo session will have their photo taken tomorrow, as well as anyone who would like retakes for whatever reason.  If you are having photos retaken, please have your child bring their original picture packet.  If you haven't seen a picture envelope brought home just yet and you would like to order photos there are a couple of options.  You could stop by the school office, fill out a packet and leave a check, or you can order online at the Leo's site:  I will send a follow up email Monday with additional information about online ordering.

You should be receiving information about logging into both TeacherEase and PowerSchool in the mail by Monday at the latest.  We are working hard on our end to input academic performance information and are learning a lot about the format of the program.  We will be operating smoothly and efficiently very soon.  You may notice a few gaps for the next several days or so as we get questions answered on our end.  Our teachers will be doing additional training this coming Thursday afternoon with a TeacherEase rep, all part of the plan.  Thanks for your patience and questions!

This coming week is a short one for students.  Our schedule is B - C - D, and we will have a fun assembly to finish the day Wednesday.  Release time on Wednesday will be 3:06 pm as is usual on Wednesday, even though we are on a D schedule.  There is no school for students on Thursday and Friday because of our professional development days.

Healthy Youth Survey:  They Healthy Youth Survey is given in multiple states every other year in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12.  It provides data relevant to the health and social/emotional well-being of our kids, is widely normed and will be useful for several things we are working on.  We will be administering this survey to our 6th and 8th graders during their PE and Health classes on Tuesday, Oct. 8.  We will be sending forms home with all of these students prior to that date, giving you and your student the opportunity to opt out of the survey if you so desire.

Wednesday, Oct. 2 is Walk to School Day.  I will send a dedicated email out regarding that event.

PST Corner:  Stay tuned for an announcement regarding our first Parent Support Team meeting.
