Mr. Holman's Weekly Parent Update 09/03/19

Dear Parents and Guardians:

It is terrific to have the 2019-20 school year underway!  We are enjoying the smiles, energy and positivity of your children.  We have had a significant uptick in enrollment this year from last, with approximately 570 students on our rolls.  Business is good!

I received several questions early last week, knowing that many of them would be answered as students returned to school.  The student agenda contains many of those answers, including the structure of the daily schedules.  Please take a look through the agenda and sign it along with your child if you haven't already done so.  On Wednesday students were assisted in creating a matrix that will help them navigate the different daily schedules that we offer.  This week they will see all of the usual ones as we have an A - B - C - D week.

Emergency Drills:  We will be conducting our first drills (fire, lockdown) within the next few days.  Students are learning about drill procedures from their teachers in the various contexts prior to the actual drills taking place.  In addition to other preparedness activities we will conduct monthly fire drills along with a minimum of three lockdown drills this year.

Sports Update:  Tuesday, September 3 is the first day of practice for MMS cheer and 6th grade volleyball.  Both will meet right after school, cheer in the MPR and volleyball in the Bear Den.  Thank you for working with us to get all sports signups and documentation on RegisterMyAthlete.  Remember to consult the sports calendar on the website for the most recent game schedules.  Information about B volleyball teams and schedules will be available soon. Our A volleyball teams and football teams begin competing the week of Sept. 9.

PST Corner:  Stay tuned for a dedicated e-mail announcing a PST informational meeting.  Thank you to everyone who has signed up to help in some capacity!

As always, please contact us if you have questions.  Have a great week!
