Mr. Holman's Weekly Parent Update 05/25/20

Dear Parents and Guardians:

A big thank you to all of the Moscow School District music teachers and students for putting on a collective community wide concert last Saturday evening!  Thank you for sharing the gift of music with us all!

Thank you all once again for helping us work through the unprecedented and challenging conditions that we have all faced this spring.  We appreciate your input and support as we all have been navigating immensely concerning and rapidly changing conditions.  The pandemic and circumstances connected to it have had effects that are very wide ranging and very difficult to measure, even in our own community. Whatever each individual child was able to accomplish during this time and under these circumstances is OK, and we assume everyone is doing the best they can in situations that are new and incredibly difficult. Please remember that no student will be retained at any level and our teachers are already beginning to work on modifications for the fall that will address any gaps that may have occurred this spring.

As students submit their final assignments this week you will notice, and may have already, that we are continuing to adjust to the individual needs and circumstances of students and families as we begin to record final grades.  As mentioned last week, there are some situations for which a No Grade is appropriate, and others for which a Pass instead of another letter grade may be appropriate.  In all cases we are trying to keep the best interests of our students at the forefront.  We will be working on final grading into next week so you may notice changes during this time.  Please contact your child's teacher or the MMS office if you have questions.  The notice about the Pass option is reattached here:  MMS Pass Option.pdf  Thanks again for your help and understanding.

A lot is happening on Thursday, May 28.  Thursday is the final day to turn in assignments.  Please also plan to bring any items that are out on loan in by Thursday as well, including Chromebooks, musical instruments, textbooks, library books and anything else that may belong to the school.  We still have locker contents for some students in our possession as well, so please consider stopping by to pick up those items if you haven't already done so.  If you have items but are unable to make it in sometime Thursday, please contact the MMS office to make a different arrangement.

Yearbooks will be available to those students who have purchased one on Thursday, May 28 as well.  For your convenience our office will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. for yearbook pickup and to drop off other items on that day.  If you have any of the above mentioned items, please bring them in on Thursday as we will need to collect them before we can issue a yearbook.  Once again, please contact the MMS office or me if you have questions.

Distance Learning Documents for the week (you will notice that teachers are giving words of encouragement and time to finish up any work students may wish to yet submit.):
