This week in sports - Our sixth grade track and field athletes will be travelling to Pullman Tuesday, May 16, for the 6th Grade All Bi-State meet, scheduled to start at 3:30 pm at the Lincoln Middle School track. Bus time is 2:30 pm. On Wednesday, May 17, Moscow is hosting the All Bi-State 7th and 8th grade meet on Bear Field, with field events beginning at 9 am. I will send a more detailed schedule for this meet on Tuesday. Families are invited to come watch, and concessions will be available. A grilled hamburger meal will be offered as a fundraiser toward enhancing the Bear track and field facility. Important reminder: Students who are not involved in the meet will not be released from school to watch or hang out at the meet without parent supervision. This is due to the fact that we are not able to manage a track meet, a school day and also manage and supervise students who are not involved in the meet. If your child is not involved in track and field but would like to watch any part of the meet during the school day, please check them out in person and accompany them to the meet. Thank you for your help with this critical management detail.
EXPO returns! - Mark your calendars...Moscow Middle School invites families in the evening of Thursday, May 25, 5:30 to 7 pm, for the return of EXPO. This year's EXPO theme is CUB PRIDE ON DISPLAY and will include student work from all subjects in all grade levels. You will see incredible writing, art and artistic performances, awesome physical activities in the gym, amazing science and math projects and activities, fascinating social studies displays and wonderful examples of student work from their elective courses. You are invited to enjoy a hotdog grilled by Principal Holman, Assistant Principal Summers and Superintendent Bailey. We are very excited to once again offer this opportunity to enjoy the positive culture at MMS!
End of year activities - 8th grade parents received some information last week regarding the end of year activities for our outgoing Cubs. I will resend this information again this week, along with information about the year's finish for our 6th and 7th graders. In short, Monday, June 5 will be a normal A day. Tuesday, June 6 will feature some fun activities for all our students and time for final turn in of school equipment, books, Chromebooks and so forth. Wednesday, June 7 will feature two awards assemblies. Sixth and seventh graders will be honored at an assembly at 9:15 am in the Bear Den, and the 8th Grade Celebration will start at 12 noon, also in the Bear Den. We will be contacting parents whose children have been selected to receive awards to give you a chance to attend the assembly if you wish. All students will be released at 1:30 pm for the summer. Please stay tuned for more information.
