Mr. Holman's Weekly Parent Update 04/05/21

Dear Parents and Guardians:

This is the final week of Quarter 3.  Students attending in person will come to school Monday through Thursday this week, and online only students will be on their regular schedules on those days as well.  There is no school Friday, April 9, as it is a teacher workday/conference day district wide.  We will be sending out mid-semester grade reports next week.  We encourage you to check Canvas regularly to check on student progress, and to contact us if you have questions.

Middle School Track and Field - On Thursday, April 8 we have planned a 'practice' meet for our athletes.  They will run through a regular meet schedule and participate in choice events.  We will post results in Athletic.net so that kids and their families are able to track their progress throughout the season.  For this practice event the main bleacher set is undergoing final steps of a structural repair so we are not going to be able to allow fans inside the venue.   We are finalizing a schedule that has three additional meets, and we will have plenty of seating and standing room to have fans attend those events.  We will broadcast aspects of Thursday's practice meet in case you would like to watch.  Stay tuned for more information, and thank you for your support!  Please contact Bill Holman if you have questions.

Scheduling electives for next year - Ms. Stone and Mr. Hespelt will be in 6th and 7th grade science classes for the next couple of days to explain elective offerings for next year.  I will send a dedicated email tomorrow explaining the process in more detail, including how to submit requests.

Idaho State Testing - MMS students will begin testing in a couple of weeks.  Our 8th graders will take the science test on Friday, April 16, in their science classes.  During the seek of April 19 - 23, all of our sixth, seventh and eighth graders will be taking the math and English/Language Arts tests. They will test in the morning and will meet with their regular classes in the afternoon.  Afternoons will include makeup times as well.  Our online-only students will be testing on Wednesdays.  I will send a schedule along with weekly notes this next week so that you have time to look it over prior to the testing week.

On the calendar -

April 5 and 6                                       Nate and Natalie in 6th and 7th Grade classes for registration
