Mr. Holman's Weekly Parent Update 03/08/21

Dear Parents and Guardians:

This will be our last AB week prior to the move to 4 day weeks after spring break.  This will be a 'normal' hybrid week, with A students on Monday and Tuesday and B students Thursday and Friday.  Spring break begins as students leave school this Friday, March 12.  Monday, March 22 will be a distance learning day, and we ask students to check Canvas on that day for instructions from teachers.  Students scheduled to attend 4-day weeks in person will come to school on Tuesday, March 23 and will attend Tuesday through Friday that week. Unless you have been contacted otherwise, their 4 day weeks will follow the same schedule that they have been on in the 2 day model.  Online only students will experience business as usual.

We are excited for this next step!  As mentioned we are changing as few variables as possible with this change.  Masks, hand washing/sanitizing and as much social distancing as possible are still extremely important.  We will continue to remind and expect students to exercise these steps.  They have done a terrific job this year!  Spring Break marks the one year anniversary of the Covid-19 impact in our district, and it is hard not to reflect on this extremely challenging year.  We are heading out of the tunnel, but it is important to keep our guard up.  Thank you for your support for maintaining safe practices.

7/8 Track and Field:  Our first 7/8 Track and Field practice will take place after school on Tuesday, March 23.  Please take care of registration steps on RegisterMyAthlete prior to that practice date.  We are currently working on plans for virtual competitions with other schools in the Bi-State league.  This will give our athletes a chance to compete with their league peers without the challenges of competing at the same venue at this time.  We will keep you updated as plans come together.

Office Hour Wednesdays:  We had a really good turnout last Wednesday!  Just a reminder:  On all full weeks from now until the end of the year, we will be offering in-person opportunities for students to meet with teachers and other staff members for assistance.  Teachers are available from 8:15 to 11:30 or so for in person and virtual visits. We encourage your child to either contact their teachers remotely or to come in for all or part of the morning to get and stay caught up.  Breakfast and lunch are both served, and we even offer a brain break in the gym mid-morning.  Hope to see your children there if they need extra help or just a quiet place to study and/or work!
